KAMRA Vision Implants Replace Reading Glasses

KAMRA Vision Implants Replace Reading Glasses
Oct-23-14
The KAMRA Vision implants could let some people do away with reading glasses by automatically adjusting to bring near objects into focus.

The KAMRA Vision implants can be implanted in just ten minutes using topical anesthesia. The key to the technology is the KAMRA inlay, an extremely thin ring with an opening in the center that is placed beneath the surface of the cornea. The inlay is able to adjust automatically to focus the light entering the eye—much like a camera's aperture—and improve vision at all distances, though the device is mostly intended to take the place of reading glasses.
