Kevlartilage Kevlar-Based Cartilage

Kevlartilage Kevlar-Based Cartilage
Nov-21-17
The Kevlartilage Kevlar-based cartilage offers a promising new material for joint replacement surgeries.

Developed by a team from the University of Michigan, the Kevlartilage is made up of a network of Kevlar nanofibers that have been combined with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), a material commonly used in cartilage replacement. The synthetic material mimics the actions of natural cartilage and will not damage neighboring cells, which gives it potential as an implant for deeper areas of the knee.
