KickSoul Controls Devices with Foot Motion

KickSoul Controls Devices with Foot Motion
Nov-29-15
The ever-creative team at the MIT Media Lab has developed the KickSoul system, which would let users control their electronic devices wirelessly, with their feet.

The system consists of regular insole embedded with Bluetooth capabilities and sensors able to track the movements of the user’s foot. Currently, the prototype system can sense two foot motions—pulling the foot closer and pushing it away—that can translate to commands such as zooming in on a map or answering a phone call.

According to the team, the system can detect between intentional and accidental movements, and,as team lead Xavier Benavides says, “It’s very useful because our feet are almost always free.”
