Lab-On-Skin Detects Biomarkers in Sweat

Lab-On-Skin Detects Biomarkers in Sweat
Dec-11-17
A tiny lab-on-skin sensor able to identify biomarkers in sweat could be incorporated into bracelets or smartphones.

Developed by a team from EPFL in cooperation with the start-up Xsensio, the chip can be placed in direct contact with a person’s skin, where it draws sweat into the four sensors via capillary action, without the need for electricity. The results can be sent to a paired smartphone in real-time, delivering information on hydration or fatigue levels as well as detecting the early signs of disease.
