Lotus Mobile Folding Solar Array

Lotus Mobile Folding Solar Array
Apr-07-13
Take your solar power on the road with the Lotus Mobile solar power system, which is small enough to be transported by an ordinary car.

Created by Joseph Hui, CEO of Monarch Power, the Lotus Mobile was designed as an emergency power source after disasters or as a way to bring power to under-served areas. Hui also envisions the device being used by the average consumer, to charge vehicles or appliances. Its eighteen petals can be folded and unfolded to form a compact package or wide open array, and its framework of plastic and aluminum helps keep its weight low. According to the developers, the Lotus Mobile features two axes that allow it to follow the sun, providing 30 percent more power than rooftop-mounted arrays, and its reduced structural support makes it cheaper to manufacture.

The orange Tesla car is not included in the system.
