Lung Flute Alleviates COPD Symptoms

Lung Flute Alleviates COPD Symptoms
Sep-30-14
Developed to help alleviate the symptoms of COPD, the Lung Flute uses sound vibrations to stimulate the body's natural mucus-clearing system.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is often accompanied thick, chronic mucus in the lungs that is difficult to break up—making breathing a struggle. The Lung Flute, which received FDA clearance four years ago, has been proven in a recent study to be an effective tool in helping patients breathe more easily.

Created by Medical Acoustics, the Lung Flute is equipped with a reed that produces low-frequency sound waves when the patient blows into the device. These sound waves travel into the lungs, where they break up the mucus and make it much easier to be cleared by coughing.

First off, I came across your site and wanted to say thanks for providing a great, much-needed lung health resource to the community.
Our readers have found this topic center to answer all of their COPD-related questions extremely useful, such as photos of what the disease can do to your lungs. I thought you might get a kick out of it as well: http://www.healthline.com/health/copd
All the best,
