M-Hubo Robot Fetches and Carries in Changing Evironments

The M-Hubo wheeled robot can locate, fetch and carry more effectively with the help of a unique new design strategy.

Developed by the team at KAUST as an eventual helper for the elderly or infirm, the M-Hubo overcomes some of the obstacles involving robotic assistants by incorporating a 3D-object detection pipeline and a kinematically optimal manipulation planner. The new system allowed the M-Hubo to locate and deliver an object to the human user with an 80 percent success rate during a dynamic public exhibition, in which the environment was changing during the demonstration.
