M-Mark Sleeve Improves Stroke Recovery

M-Mark Sleeve Improves Stroke Recovery
Feb-09-16
Researchers have created the M-Mark system, a sensor-equipped sleeve to help ensure stroke patients are correctly and consistently performing their rehabilitation exercises.

The M-Mark system features the sensor-laden sleeve that communicates wirelessly with a paired tablet and app. As the tablet app guides the wearer through specific exercises, the sensors in the sleeve detect muscle contractions to determine if the exercises are being performed correctly while also tracking progress over time.

According to study leader Professor Jane Burridge of Southampton University, "It will also be used to assess patients' problems accurately as well as more cheaply and practically than using laboratory-based technologies."
