The Mamut robot from Cambridge Consultants will roam the rows to automatically gather data on crops.
Although mass crop data is commonly collected by airborne drones, the drones can often miss the produce that is hidden beneath leaves or the canopy of trees.
To offer a more complete picture, the four-wheeled, autonomous Mamut will explore the rows from the ground to collect crop data with its array of sensors. The Mamut can travel without GPS, navigating the field’s rows with the help of its SLAM capability.
As it travels through the crop, the Mamut will capture heath and yield data that is then collated by the bot’s onboard AI and easily accessed by the farmer.
