Microbot Push Makes Old Appliances Smarter

Microbot Push Makes Old Appliances Smarter
Aug-30-15
Created to help make old appliances smarter, the Microbot Push robotic “finger” fits over the device’s mechanical switch to allow it to be triggered remotely via Bluetooth.

Developed Naran, a Korean company, the Microbot Push was designed to allow users to connect their older appliances to the Internet of Things. According to the designers, the device can exert 2.2 pounds of force, more than enough to flip a standard switch. The Push is attached to the object’s surface next to the switch using foam tape, where the device’s “fingers” can reach the switch and trigger it on command. The command can be sent manually by the homeowner via their smartphone, or can be set to trigger at pre-determined times.
