The Mink 3D printer lets users customize their makeup by printing any color—from the web or the real world—onto an array of makeup types.
The Mink was designed by Grace Choi, and made its launch recently on the Disrupt NY state. It uses the same makeup substrate used by most makeup companies and needs only the hex code of the color (determined by a color-picker) to print the desired color onto blush or eye shadow. Plans are also in the works to enable the printer to print other cosmetics, such as creams and lip gloss.
Choi developed her printer based in part on the idea that consumers appreciate instant gratification more than brand loyalty. The Mink will be targeted at the 13-21 age group.
