MisTable Creates Interactive Images with Mist

MisTable Creates Interactive Images with Mist
Apr-13-14
The MisTable system creates curtains of mist, allowing users to manipulate projected images in the foggy space.

Developed by Professor Sriram Subramanian and Dr Diego Martinez Plasencia from the University of Bristol, the MisTable system is made up of an interactive tabletop display and personal screens created from a curtain of mist. The screens are see-through, which allows the user to see the elements on the tabletop display as well as those on their personal screen, and are also 'reach-through.' The reach-through feature allows the user to interact with either their own, mist-based screen or with the tabletop display just beyond it.

According to Sriram Subramanian, MisTable offers a unique opportunity for cooperation. “Users can be aware of each other’s actions and can easily switch between interacting with the personal screen to the tabletop surface or the interaction section. This allows users to break in or out of shared tasks and switch between “individual” and “group” work."
