The affordable MobiKa assistive robot could help the elderly and disabled remain more independent in their homes.
Developed by the team from Fraunhofer, the MobiKa (Mobile Communication Assistant) robot features a flat, table-like display and communicates via both text and voice. Able to autonomously navigate its environment—even if it changes—the robot can also recognize individuals, acting as a personal assistant to deliver general communication, entertainment, message and medication reminders, and even a fall-alert system. The MobiKa is also more affordable than its counterparts, making it a viable option for homes and care facilities.
