Electric skateboards just got a bit sleeker with the release of the Monolith—the first electric skateboard with in-hub motors.
Though there are other electric skateboards on the market, they rely on exterior motors mounted beneath the board, which are exposed to dirt and water while also reducing clearance. In contrast, the Monolith is equipped with direct-drive hub motors within its rear wheels. The wheel-embedded motors are not only lighter, they also eliminate the need for a belt drive—allowing the wheels to spin freely while coasting (or when the battery dies).
