The new, extremely flexible Elasto Plastic for 3D printing could open the door to a whole new range of 3D printed objects, particularly shoes and other wearable items.
Debuted by Shapeways as an experimental option, Elasto Plastic is described as having a rough, grainy finish and can be very durable when printed with features thicker than 5 mm. Currently the material can only be used by people to print 3D models they’ve uploaded themselves, but if the product proves successful the company will offer it as a permanent option.
Shapeways is encouraging people to try the new plastic and then contact their materials manager to share their impression of the material.
