Omni Wheel Brings Electric Assist to Regular Bikes

Omni Wheel Brings Electric Assist to Regular Bikes
Dec-11-14
The Omni Wheel attaches to almost any bicycle to give an electrical boost—and may be the first of its kind to make it to market.

Although there have been several wheels announced lately that will give regular bikes electric assist, the Omni Wheel from Evelo was developed without crowdsourcing, which allowed the team to better meet deadlines. The wheel can be installed on a standard bike in about thirty minutes, where its 350W hub motor will provide an electric boost for up to 40 miles (depending upon battery type). Instead of pairing with a smartphone, the Omni Wheel is controlled by a handlebar-mounted wireless control unit that also displays essentials such as speed and battery life.

The Omni Wheel is expected to begin shipping in March 2015.
