The OMsignal shirt goes beyond wrist-worn fitness monitors by embedding the sensors into an active-wear shirt.
The OMsignal shirt is equipped with an array of electrodes knitted into the fabric in the torso area. Because the shirts are compression garments, the electrodes remain close to the skin and in the best location to capture such information—near the heart. A small device in the shirt pocket uses an accelerometer, magnetometer and gyroscope to record additional activity information, and then sends all the collected data to an accompanying smartphone app, allowing the user to check stats such as calories burned, level of alertness and how much energy they have remaining.
According to the developers, the OMsignal shirt can even be worn in the office under a normal dress shirt, where it can track the wearer's stress levels and how often they enter 'Zen' space.
