Organ-Based Tissue Paper Promotes Healing

Organ-Based Tissue Paper Promotes Healing
Aug-12-17
Bioactive ‘tissue paper’ made of blended organs could help heal wounds or trigger hormone production.

The material was developed by a team from Northwestern University by decellularizing tiny pieces of organs to form a clear ‘goop.’ That substance is then dried to a powder and combined with a polymer to create a biologically safe paper material with the cellular qualities of the organ from which it came. The ‘paper’ can then be implanted in the body to stimulate hormone production and help heal wounds.
