Oxalert EPO Wakes Patients to Prevent Accidental Opioid Death

Oxalert EPO Wakes Patients to Prevent Accidental Opioid Death
Nov-07-19
The Oxalert EPO device from Med-botics monitors a patient’s oxygen saturation to help prevent opioid overdose.

Post-op and other patients on heavy opioid therapy can sometimes stop breathing, a decidedly risky situation. To help prevent death from respiratory arrest, the Oxalert EPO(Enhanced Pulse Oximeter) is worn on the wrist, where it monitors the patient’s oxygen saturation. If the levels fall below 90 percent, the system will try to wake the patient via an audible alert, gentle electric shock, or both.
