Paper RFID Tags

Paper RFID Tags

(8)Feb-12-12
Researchers have developed a way to create RFID tags made of paper, drastically lowering their cost to produce and opening the door to many new uses.

A team at the University of Montpellier, France made the tags by developing a thermal evaporation process that deposits an aluminum coil antenna onto the paper. The new method uses less metal than current designs, and aluminum costs less than the conventional copper and silver. The team believes the new process could lower the cost to produce RFID tags by as much as 80 percent.
