POC Helmet Tracks Its Integrity

Nov-21-14 The POC Helmet will track its structural integrity, warning the user when it ability to protect has been compromised.

Helmets used by extreme athletes take a beating, and a lot of damage goes unseen. Yet each blow weakens the helmet, which also hampers its ability to absorb and withstand impacts. The POC Helmet Integrity System was created function as an early-warning system for seriously compromised helmets. The system is made up of an array of sensors embedded in the helmet's lining that track deformation and impact severity. Once a tolerance level has been reached, a light on the helmet will illuminate to indicate that it should be retired.
