Printable Sensors Improve Tooling Efficiency

Printable Sensors Improve Tooling Efficiency
Feb-12-16
Printable sensors able to closely monitor the manufacturing process in real time could allow small defects and changes to be spotted immediately.

Part of the Innovate UK’s Intelligent Tooling program, the sensors and electronics would be embedded near the tooling inserts in machines to monitor a range of conditions, including force, temperature and vibrations. By closely monitoring the tooling process in real time, the performance of the manufacturing tools can be tracked, and any deviation from the established parameters could be detected quickly, rather than waiting until the finished product inspection.
