Proof-of-Concept Sodium-Ion Powered eBike

Proof-of-Concept Sodium-Ion Powered eBike
May-18-15
Williams Advanced Power has released its proof-of-concept sodium-ion bike as a possible alternative to the lithium ion versions.

Unlike lithium-ion batteries (which also carry a fire risk), the base materials for sodium-ion batteries can be derived from common salt. The battery pack developed by William was created to be a bit oversize—to help reduce costs—and is made up of four 12-cell modules. According to a company representative, the e-bike performed well during limited testing.
