Pyra 3D-Printed Smart Oven

Pyra 3D-Printed Smart Oven
Jul-20-15
The Pyra 3D-printed smart oven stretches the boundaries of 3D printing by reaching effective cooking temperatures within its plastic body.

Developed by the Oakland-based company Fathom, the Pyra was printed using the food-safe resin ULTEM 1010, and on a Fortus 900mc—the only 3D printer able to use the required resin. A fan in the base of the oven forces air through a series of ducts and heating elements, evenly heating the interior, all-plastic cooking chamber to temperatures up to 375°. The Pyra has no physical buttons itself, and instead is meant to be controlled via a fully customizable app.
