Real-time Digital Signpost

Real-time Digital Signpost
Jun-11-13
Being hailed as the “most advanced directional sign on Earth,” the Points digital signpost is designed to give visitors information about specific events or locations, and can base its data off Twitter feeds and other social networks.

Designed by the Brooklyn-based agency Breakfast, the Points sign features three, arrow-shaped, LED-equipped screens that pivot around the post. Users can select the information they need, such as “Food” or “Transit” from an interface at eye-level, and the signs will move to point in the direction of the desired location. Since the data is digital, the categories will adapt to list only the restaurants that are open at the time, for example.

The Points sign can also stream data from RSS news feeds, transportation hubs, Twitter and Facebook, allowing it to guide people toward the next incoming train, best happy hour or where the most social activity is currently located.
