Chinese company Magic Bulb has developed a new LED lightglobe with a build in battery. It uses only 4 watts of power but produces the equivalent of a incandescent 50W globe.

If the power fails, the bulb will keep running for about three hours. You can also unscrew it and use it as a flashlight.

The bulb will run for 20,000 hours, and is expected to retail for around $30-40 USD.

I think a rechargeable LED bulb is great! I work with Sharp and have been doing some research on LEDs. They just seem to be getting better and better. The uses are so varied that the only limitation is your own imagination.
