Paper airplanes have been given a boost of technology with the PowerUp 3.0—a gizmo that lets you control your paper airplane with a smartphone.
Already far exceeding its funding goal on Kickstarter, the PowerUp 3.0 attaches to a paper airplane with its ‘patented clips.’ Made of carbon fiber, the attachment is equipped with a propeller, rudder and crash-proof battery pack. The system communicates with a smartphone via Bluetooth, and works with the companion app to allow paper pilots to control the plane’s flight for up to ten minutes of continuous flight. The app also gives the user a ‘pilot’s view,’ with a range and thrust level indicator and a magnetic compass.
