Slated to arrive in 2017, the Moley robotic chef interacts with real world cooking utensils to let homeowners enjoy home-cooked, professional-quality meals without the work.
Created by Moley Robotics in conjunction with London-based Shadow Robot and Masterchef Tim Anderson, the robotic chef is a part of the larger Automated Kitchen project.
The smartphone-controlled robot consists of a pair mechanical arms equipped with 24 joints and 20 motors in the hands. A motion capture camera was used to record Masterchef Tim Anderson's own movements when performing different cooking tasks, and that data along with an algorithm created by a team at Stanford University was uploaded to the robot's central computer, enabling the robot to perform the same, specific action to complete the task.
