Robotic Cyberknife to Help Fight Cancer

Robotic Cyberknife to Help Fight Cancer

Despite it's name, the Cyberknife is not a real knife. The robot, which looks strikingly similar to a auto manufacturing robot, is a radiotherapy machine that can work with such precision that it can move around while the patient breathes.

The treatment is claimed to be so accurate that it is now possible to be able to treat tumours that were previously thought to be inoperable.

Because the treatment is not invasive, complications that are normally associated with surgery are eliminated, as is the need for a long recovery time. What this means is that there is now a new treatment option for patients who are not well enough to undergo surgery. Additionally, most patients can leave the clinic the same day as their treatment.
