Rubik's Puzzle-Based Paddle Smartphone

Rubik's Puzzle-Based Paddle Smartphone
Feb-05-14
Based on the same design principles as the Rubik’s Magic folding plate puzzle, the Paddle can be transformed from a phone to a table to a wristband.

Developed by a team from the Hasselt University at the Expertise Centre for Digital Media in Belgium, the Paddle currently relies upon an optical tracking system with a projector to provide a visual output. However, advances within the next decade will lead to versions that feature tiny, integrated displays, allowing the device to be completely self-contained. The team believes the displays could be easily integrated into the Paddle by using the connecting wires to replace the fish wires currently functioning as the Paddle’s hinges.
