Samsung Patents Z-Fold Smartphone

Aug-24-19 Samsung has filed a patent for a Z-fold smartphone design that can expand to the size of a tablet.

According to the patent design, the Z-fold smartphone can open from a handset-sized unit to a single screen three times larger than standard smartphone screens—offering all the benefits of a smartphone, tablet and even a small computer. The patent also pointed out that with the proper hardware, the Z-fold device would be ideal for multitasking as well as gaming.

The Samsung Z-fold design joins the growing ranks of potential—and realized—foldable smartphones.
