SecureDrive Hard Drive Will Self-Destruct on Command

SecureDrive Hard Drive Will Self-Destruct on Command
Oct-07-14
Keep your data safe—or at least private—with the self-destructing SecureDrive hard drives that can be activated with a text message.

Created by the London-based company of the same name, the SecureDrive looks like a standard hard drive and boasts 128 GB SSD. The drive can be connected to a computer either internally or with a Micro USB and is equipped with a GSM module that will trigger the data-erasing—which is accomplished by physically destroying the internal NAND Flash chip and security controller. The erase trigger can be activated in a variety of ways: through a user-defined text message, low battery levels, incorrect PIN entries or the loss of GSM signal, and the destruct parameters can be defined by the user.
