Self-Powered Video Camera

Apr-17-15 Researchers have created a video camera prototype able to power itself from the ambient light.

Developed by a team at Columbia University, the camera prototype was built on the knowledge that solar cells and a camera's digital image sensor are both designed to covert light into an electric current. The new camera features photodiodes able to switch between functions, allowing the camera to record and transfer images and then convert the incident light to energy to power the battery.
