ShopInstantShoe System Customizes Shoe Fit

May-26-15 The ShopInstantShoe system will quickly personalize the fit of off-the-rack shoes, helping to ensure women are able to choose correctly sized shoes.

The device was created to work in conjunction with shoes manufactured to take advantage of the technology, which would include a layer in the upper part made of leather fibers and a shape-memory alloy. A woman interested in buying a shoe would scan their feet using the store’s DOME foot-scanning device. That information would then be used by the Shoptool to heat the upper and mold it, allowing for a more precise fit.

The ShopInstantShoe system is expected to be released to select stores in Europe later this year.
