SignLanguage Glove Converts Signs to Dialogue

SignLanguage Glove Converts Signs to Dialogue
Oct-02-15
The wearable SignLanguage Glove converts hand motions into text and audible words, offering another way for the hearing impaired to communicate.

Developed by Hadeel Ayoub, a student at Goldsmiths, University of London, the glove is equipped with five flex sensors that monitor finger motions, an accelerometer that detects the position of the glove, and a text-to-speech chip embedded in the glove’s lining. As the wearer performs sign language gestures, the system will convert the motions to text on a screen and spoken words.

Ayoub is now working on a version of the glove that includes WiFi and language translation.

This is really amazing and I a sure will help those who cannot talk verbally to communicate with other hearing and non signers.... BUT a major problem is for the ... non signing hearers... to be able to communicate with the Deaf WHAT IS NEEDED IS.... for speech from hearers to be converted into text or visual sign language conversion for them to read. My friends and I cannot learn sign language quick enough to communicate effectively with my friend who is now deaf in both ears due to Meniere's disease and missing out on a good quality of social life. Is there anything out there yet.
