Apr-15-15
The sleek and subtle Solar Bike from Jesper Frausig can go 40 miles on a single charge—and may actually make it to market.

Nominated for an INDEX award, the Solar Bike is the result three years of work and new advances in solar cell technology. One such improvement is the "Shadow Optimized" solar panels, which are integrated into the wheels of the bike to harness solar energy for storage in the on-board battery. During the ride, the panels continue to charge the battery, which in turn can provide enough electric assist to reach top speeds of 30 miles per hour.
