SolidEnergy Developing High-Capacity Battery

Aug-24-16 SolidEnergy Systems has announced the development of a rechargeable lithium metal battery with a storage capacity that doubles current options.

According to Qichao Hu, the MIT alumnus who founded the company, the battery offers not only twice the energy density of its counterparts, but is also safer and able to operate at high temperatures. The key to the battery’s enhanced performance is a very thin, high-energy lithium metal foil that replaces the typical graphite-based anode.
