Sonar Treadmill Adjusts to Your Pace

Sonar Treadmill Adjusts to Your Pace
Apr-20-15
A sonar treadmill that automatically adjusts its speed to match the runner's lets you set your own pace in real-time.

The treadmill features a sonar system placed behind it that monitors the runner's position relative to the center. If the runner begins moving closer to the front or back of the treadmill, signifying a faster or slower pace, the treadmill will compensate by gradually adjusting the speed of the belt until the runner is settled at the middle again. According to Steven T. Devor associate professor of kinesiology at The Ohio State University, "The result is a treadmill experience that is much closer to walking or running outdoors."
