Stretchable Battery Can Be Worn On the Skin

Stretchable Battery Can Be Worn On the Skin
May-21-16
A stretchable battery that can be applied to skin like a bandage could be used to store energy generated by body movement or heat.

Developed by an international team of researchers, the battery is made up of tiny, extremely thin tiles cut from a standard lithium-ion battery. The tiles were connected by lengths of wires and fitted into a soft, rubbery material, and then coated with a stiff rubber layer. The final result is a very stretchable, thin, waterproof battery that can be applied to the skin.
