Tap Strap Wearable Keyboard

Tap Strap Wearable Keyboard
May-20-16
The Tap Strap invention puts the keyboard on your hand, allowing users to type out their messages on almost any surface.

The Tap Strap fits on the hand like a glove, where it monitors the movement of the hand to determine which virtual key is being tapped, and then communicates the data to a Bluetooth paired device. However, the Tap Strap does require the user learns a new typing system, with different finger combinations indicating the chosen letter—a process the team says will take about an hour.

The Tap Strap team is also investigating other uses for the device, such as gaming and virtual reality.

Many many years ago I used a now well and truly outdated Linotype keyboard and my fingers still get confused when I type slightly faster than normal. This system would not be for me, Confusion with the Qwerty keyboard and years of texting by younger people Imay also see as a similar problem.

Seems to be based on the 5 finger chording developed in the 70's with a different form factor. I still think people want physical buttons with feedback and the fact that this design provides only part of the keyboard may limit it. I have a one handed keyboard called DecaTxt that provides all of the keystrokes including cursors and f keys. It uses 10 keys so the chords are much simpler. Also it's available now on Amazon.
