Tattoo Monitors Alcohol Levels

Tattoo Monitors Alcohol Levels
Apr-20-18
A temporary tattoo able to monitor alcohol levels could help encourage responsible drinking.

Created by a team funded by the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering, the tattoo is equipped with a component that releases a chemical to stimulate perspiration. Another component able to detect the changes in the electrical current of the sweat translates that information in alcohol levels, with the data then sent to a paired device, such as a smartphone. The measurements are available in just eight minutes, compared to the two to three hours of previous examples, making the tattoo more useful for real-time intoxication monitoring.
