Tear Film Imager Diagnoses Dry Eye

Tear Film Imager Diagnoses Dry Eye
Oct-08-19
The Tear Film Imager from AdOM Advanced Optical Methods could help diagnose and treat dry eyes.

Dry eye disease is caused by an instability in the tear film layer, and is usually diagnosed through patient questionnaires and less-than-accurate invasive methods. Since up to 60 percent of eye doctor visits are with dry eye complaints, the team from AdOM Advanced Optical Methods Ltd. created the Tear Film Imager. The system uses a safe halogen light to illuminate the eye and analyze how the full spectrum of light reflects off the eye’s surface, imaging the inner layers of the film and aqueous sublayer.

In tests, the Tear Film Imager proved as accurate as more complex and invasive technologies.
