The Tek Robotic Mobilization Device could replace the wheelchair, allowing paraplegic people to stand as they move about.
Invented by researchers in Turkey, the Tek RMD consists of a padded strap that fits around the user's hips, allowing them to hoist themselves into a standing position. The device's compact frame makes it much easier to navigate, and the ability of the user to be on eye level with those around will have a powerfully positive psychological effect.
