Thin Material Could Lead to Wearable Generators

Thin Material Could Lead to Wearable Generators
Jul-26-17
A new material able to harvest energy from everyday motions could have us charging our smartphones as we walk.

Developed by a team from Vanderbilt University, the ultra-thin material is made up of multiple layers of black phosphorus that will produce an electrical charge when bent or flexed. The material can generate energy from very slight motions, such as sitting down, and could potentially be integrated into fabrics.
