Tokai University has completed construction of its solar car, slated to compete in the Global Green Challenge, one of the world's largest solar car races to be held in October 2009.The Sharp solar cells which cover the deck of the car claim to have the highest level of conversion efficiency in the world with an output of 1.8 kW and a cell conversion efficiency of 30%.
