Touchscreen System Lets Users Tune Their Own Hearing Aids

Touchscreen System Lets Users Tune Their Own Hearing Aids
Jun-28-15
A new system that lets wearers fine-tune their own hearing aids could make the devices more comfortable to use.

Developed by a team from SINTEF, in Norway, the tuning platform is based on the idea that it can be hard for a person to express their hearing problems in words. To simplify the process, the system will play audio clips of typical sounds, such as car engines or multiple conversations in a crowded room. As the audio clip is played, the patient can alter the sound parameters in real-time by touching different images that symbolize a specific sound, making it easier to tune the hearing aid for specific needs.
