Developed for people in tsunami-prone areas, the Duckweed Survival House will float on the surface of the water to protect the occupants in a weather-resistant pod.
The Duckweed is designed to float upright even in the roughest seas, and can be inflated quickly via its integrated CO2 canister. Fresh air enters through a vent at the top, and a reverse osmosis film near the base of an underwater stem filters the sea water to provide fresh drinking water. The stem also acts as a stabilizer, keeping the shelter steady, and the units can be linked together to allow survivors to float en masse.
