Village Defense Brings Neighborhood Watch into the Future

Village Defense Brings Neighborhood Watch into the Future
Jan-21-12
The Village Defense neighborhood watch system uses social software to alert all neighbors, instantly, when a suspicious activity is observed.

Founded by a Georgia Tech graduate Nathan Black, the Village Defense software links neighbors and allows them all to be notified with one text or phone call. In pilot studies, the increased awareness, large number of witnesses, and quicker response times helped cut crime rates by 58% in the first year.

The system can also send out non-emergency e-lerts, which resulted in more community involvement and attendance at events.
