Waterpod Brings Clean Water to Desert Nomads

Waterpod Brings Clean Water to Desert Nomads
Apr-03-13
The solar-powered waterpod, designed to provide clean water to desert communities, made a splash at Morocco’s ‘nomadic festival.’

According to developer Alain Thibault, the waterpod works by emulating “the natural cycle of cloud condensation.” Using evaporation and condensation, the device allows users to extract water from wells and purify it with only the heat from the sun—a technique developed in the 16th century. The waterpod is meant to be portable, made from wood, cork, stainless steel and glass, and the inventors have given courses at a college on Morocco’s Atlantic coast to teach students how to produce them at a low cost.
