The WaterWear backpack was designed to make it easier for people in developing countries to transport water to their homes.

Developed in conjunction by Greid and Impact Economics, the WaterWear collapsible pack can hold up to 5.3 gallons of water. Made of lightweight and strong industrial grade polypropylene, it can be adjusted to fit the size of the user and features a solid base that allows it to stand on its own while being filled. A protected spout keeps the water clean while allowing the liquid to be easily released when needed. A smaller hybrid version that can be carried on the head is also available.

According to Greif, women and children in developing countries travel an average of 3.5 miles each day to gather water, and often are forced to use contaminated or bulky cans and buckets.
